Story Outline
In 2009, the six students, Bima, Anton, Wahyu, Nur, Widya, and Ayu carried out the actual work course (KKN) within the remote village in the East Java. But, they had no initiative that the village that they select was not the ordinary kind of village. Pak Prabu, their village head, had advised them not to go to the forbidden gate that divided the village from the jungle known as Tapak Tilas.
After several days within the village, these six students started to experience odd things. When Widya and Nur were about to have their shower, they were mutually haunted by the dark creature and the lady wearing Javanese dance cloth. On their second night, Widya fall into the trance and performed the Javanese dance, but, after waking up, she did not understand she had performed it. Then, Nur, who often encounter dizziness since their KKN activities started, met Mbah Buyut, their village shaman. Served the cup of coffee, then Nur fainted whereas Mbah Buyut performed the ritual to relax the figure of the grandmother who followed Nur always wherever she go. The following day, Mbah Buyut handed the similar coffee to Wahyu, Widya, and Ayu. When Widya sense that the coffee had been sweet, Mbah Buyut said that their coffee was in fact bitter, and the cause that Widya felt was she was being a target by the spirit.
Since he rested foot in that village, Bima had been the quiet person and usually disappeared in the core of the evening. Anton once heard the voice of the woman from the room of Bima, and found offerings beneath his bed. Then one day, Nur saw Ayu and Bima arguing over a bracelet that Ayu had supposed to hand over to Widya. On that similar day, a joglo house where these students dwelled was suddenly raided through the villagers who in some causes saw Widya as the snake. Reacting to this regard, Pak Prabu recommended that they must stop the KKN activities; however, Ayu insisted that they’ll still have to keep going. Suspicious of Ayu and Bima, Nur went to the Tapak Tilas, wherein he discovered them by himself. It was exposed that Ayu and Bima had made the Tapak Tilas their hiding place to have intimate romance.
Writer’s Observation
Adapting books especially the famous ones, into the movie can be a tricky one. The advocate to satisfy their fans will lead to a disappointing outcome. KKN Di Desa Penari fell over in this category. As a substitute to make the tighter plot point, this movie tends to adapt the source material in the literal manner. As an outcome, the movie suffered from the overlong tale and somewhat wandered uselessly for most of the runtime. Still enjoyable, however, could be better.
Their cinematography is then above average even their story and costume design is far from reality. The scenarios and the main castings are the big point support here; even a legendary BONENG had been taken part in this film. Not to disrespect the movie, but, the movie is really far to be called a good horror one that is worth watching. Maybe those people who had watch this movie, just need some time together with their family and friends.
