Narrative

In the Earth

Martin Lowery is the scientist that was sent to the government-controlled outpost when the unspecified pandemic had ravaged the state. The outpost is situated in an oddly fertile forested place outside Bristol to assist in the experiments and studies of Olivia Wendle his ex-lover and former colleague, about using mycorrhiza to boost the crop efficiency. Right after passing the physical exam and meeting Alma, the park guide, he learned of the local myth of the Parnag Fegg, the woodland spirit. The next morning, Alma and Martin starts their 2-day hike toward the site of Olivia.

Alma informed Martin that Olivia wasn’t heard for months. The following evening, Martin discovered a rash over his arm just before him and Alma were assaulted by the unknown assailants who raid their camp too, steal their shoes, loot some of the supplies and destroyed their equipment. Without the shoes, Martin cut his foot badly. Zach, the dwelling in the woods approached them and offered to lend some pair of shoes. Taking them into his personal campsite, Zach disinfected and stitched the wound of Martin and gave them both drinks and foods. Alma and Martin start to lose their consciousness and realized that they had been sedated. When they were unconscious, Zach took ritualistic images of them in bizarre clothes and positions, then, stitches an odd animal gut and symbol into the arm of Martin.

Upon awakening, Zach described a symbol as the sign to be witnessed by the presence in the jungle, stated by him as have been once an antique sorcerer who situated his essence in the standing stone elsewhere in the woods. Martin’s foot became infected from the injury and Zach messily amputated some of the toes with the hatchet. Alma acquired the discarded blade to set-free her and Martin just before attacking Zach. Alma and Martin flew, but become separated, and Martin being pursued by Zach. After seeing the standing stone, Olivia locates and rescued Martin. Alma independently leads her means to the camp, then, Zach was driven away by an amplified light and sounds set-up around the camp of Olivia.

Writer’s Notion

You will be pretty stoked about this movie right after seeing its trailer. First, you will figure it to be a tough Arthouse horror film. The movie probably came from a guy that preferred mostly a B stuff film. The two main casts were so boring and flat. They did not find any interesting things to discuss about while they were traveling through the forests. The cast just flatly state things that were put there to be a part of the story and there are no banter and no conversations at all.

Then there is this bunch of odd plot stuff, indecisiveness on what the film is supposed to become. It is wicked cool trippy type of cinematography stuff that had totally ruined by the whole plot of the film. It has a really bad explanation about the reason why all things happened with what it is. Maybe the writer thought this would give an air of apocalyptic dread and mystery. The days in the horror where the characters have their very interesting attributes in the movie, and the casts were obsessed with the mass of his nose, then, getting the nose job done is something that the viewers are all missing to see.
