Narrative

Casey is one lonely teen girl who dwells with her widowed father. One fine day, she decided to record herself while taking the viral of the “World’s Fair Challenge,” wherein she stated that she wanted to go to that World’s Fair,”4 times on her camera, spreads some of the blood over her laptop screen, then watched the short video of strobe lights before she said that she will make updates on the “changes” that will take place.
The other World’s Fair contestants recorded and posted their own physical and psychological changes. The next video recounts of Casey bouts of sleepwalking that she encountered when she was still young, saying she was started feeling the same since taking a challenge. Late one evening, she sneaks in her shed, where she’d located the shotgun of her father. She watches the ASMR video about the young lady calming somebody after having a nightmare before the disturbing videos made into her from the user “JLB” plays, presenting Casey’s distorted face together with the message “YOU’RE IN TROUBLE”. Casey reached out to JLB, the collaborator with the other World’s Fair contestants and spoke with him through Skype. JLB claimed to worry about a symptom Casey reported in the final post she did, and he encouraged her to keep on making videos so that he will monitor her wellness. JLB was exposed to be a mutually middle-aged lonely man who was spending his time looking over the World’s Fair videos of other people.
JLB watched one more video of Casey that was recorded while she was sleeping, during which she appeared to pull herself and be out from the bed with that menacing smile. JLB informed her through one personal video that a force behind the World’s Fair had been taking over her, where she must keep on posting videos. The mental state of Casey starts deteriorating that became apparent in a stream of some videos she keeps posting online, with one where Casey inexplicably screamed in fright while recording herself dancing and singing to a song, then, one more later, she stated her intentions to either kill herself or her father with a gun.
Writer’s Notion

It felt like something is missing here based on the optimistic reviews given by everyone. The movie sets up as a promising one. From the picture you will expect it as a freaky weird horror movie and the movie opening will made you think that. Its first 30-minutes are not bad. There is an eerie gist all around and there are some messed up videos that you can notice from others doing with their World’s Fair challenge. However, nothing happens. You will just keep on waiting for that something disturbing to take place, and the other part of the movie does nothing actually.
The message that they are sending to their viewers is understandable, about how people should take things seriously and be careful about what matters. The stakes did get enough high where it felt like, Casey, was in always in danger. There is this perspective from one guy watching Casey and checked on her, but this man does not add anything into the story until it finished. The movie music did not actually work, but, instead they give indie music with its lyrics playing aimlessly in spots that did not work.
It is just disappointing, especially after a totally messed up video from another played. If someone else had been connected to the project, then, it would be better. Sad to say, the movie is really slow, and the only highlight of this movie is that their major character is one of the best actresses in the movie industry.
