THE FILM: Demented is a retro 1980s style horror movie was a breath of fresh air. It has an original story about sex trafficking and the dark web, and the horrifying reality that women go missing every day in this world. The introduction to killer is great and I can see Chainsaw Chuck becoming the next Freddy. The film is clearly made on a low budget but still has great production value. The writer, director Nigel Hartwell put together an amazing cast Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Ari Lehman (Friday the 13th), Dakota House (North of 60, X-files), Bret “Hitman” Hart (WWE), Barry J Gillis (Things, Wicked World), Angelina Love (Wrestling Champion) and Cheyenne Ennis (Insight of Evil).

The film does not have excessive gore like most of the 80s films but it does have lots of naked beautiful women, which was a nice surprise as most Nigel Hartwell films (Insight of Evil, The Expedition) lacked that aspect in the past. The plot of the film is follows Amanda to a cottage, where her boyfriend proposes marriage to her, only for her to go missing the next morning. When she awakes she is in a greasy, dirty motel room where she meets her capture Chainsaw Chuck. Chuck then tortures her, rapes, and records her every move on video.

This footage is then turned into a snuff film that is sold to a porn producer who uploads it to the dark web. Amanda escapes only to discover the true horrors of live and seeks revenge with the help of a few other victims. The setting of the film is located at a burnt down motel, which is extra creepy, as Hartwell pays homages to Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre & Nightmare on Elm Street. All and all the film does have its slow moments but those moments quickly turn to terror, and I truly love the story and the message of awareness that the film sends out to the female audience. This female driven story may have a great deal of criticism, by most reviewers as Chainsaw Chuck is a racist, sexiest, pig! I would suggest this film to horror, thriller and cult fans and to people that are open to an original story.

I give this film 4 stars out of 5. RATING
